What is Autism?
Autism is a general term that indicates a series of development disabilities. It’s a lifelong condition usually diagnosed in early childhood. Although autism is different for everyone, it affects how the person interacts with other people and the world around them. This affects how they socialize, talk, communicate and behave.
According to NHS Digital, autism affects approximately 1% of children in the UK. Similarly, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the US reports that 1 in 54 children is identified with autism.
